About the Artist

I first started sewing at about four years old and never stopped. I began by teaching myself through craft and sewing books, consuming every project I could get my hands on. At the age of 12 I decided I wanted to learn more and convinced my parents to sign me up for quilting classes. This led me to a fabulous group of older women who kindly took me under their wings and taught me precision, the basics of design, the importance of patience, and gave me an introduction to alterations, garment construction, and historical costuming. By 16 I was working professionally in two different alteration shops and continued to soak up as much sewing knowledge as I could. When I turned 18 I moved out to Los Angeles, CA to go to school at The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) where I completed degrees in Fashion Design and Theatre Costume Design. I spent multiple years in the LA area working predominantly in Theatre costume shops. In 2016 I returned to the Midwest to be closer family and after a couple freelance gigs settled happily into doing bridal alterations full time again.
Now that my life is surprisingly settled, with a loving and supportive partner, new house, and renewed creative energy, I am able to put time and effort into personal projects again. You can expect to see an eclectic variety of items in my shop as my interests tend to spread far! I'm so excited to see what comes next in this life and what kinds of beautiful things I can create and share with the world.
